Dried Guniea Ashanti Pepper Leaves
Dried Guniea Pepper, or Dried Uziza Leaves, is a West African spice made from a dried fruit known as West African pepper (Ashanti pepper, Benin pepper, false cubeb, Guinea cubeb, uziza pepper). Collectively, we call this spice “Guinea pepper.” Locally called kale, kukauabe, masoro, sasema and soro wisa, dried Uziza Leaves are a close relative of cubeb pepper and a relative of black pepper and long pepper. In terms of flavor, this pepper is very similar to cubeb pepper but is much less bitter and has a fresher more herbaceous flavour.
